Company History
In 2006, the husband and wife team of Lou Ann Burgess and Rich Carl started iKitchens Etc. Originally, the company specialized in IKEA kitchen installations. Quickly, Rich and Lou Ann realized that customers wanted someone to run the entire renovation project (demo, plumbing, electric, plaster, etc.). They built a team of reliable employees and subcontractors to provide these services. Because of their corporate backgrounds in customer service and quality control, they put a strong emphasis on communication, customer satisfaction, cleanliness, and delivering projects on time and within budget. In 2016, they opened the kitchen and bath design center in East Falmouth. This location allows a “one-stop shop” for kitchen and bath remodels. From start to finish, iKitchens Etc. does everything including design, specific products, supply materials, and construction.
In early 2025, Lou Ann and Rich passed the baton to iKitchens' current owner, Debbie Braney, to take the business and their valued customers forward.

The Team
Rich Carl
Founder & Advisor
A Massachusetts native, Rich spent 20 years in the corporate world in marketing and sales after getting a Ph.D. in chemistry from Dartmouth College. While his day job was sales of scientific instruments, evenings and weekends were filled with home improvement projects. Rich has years of hands-on experience but is always staying current with new ways to tackle a project. A true jack of all trades, he is as comfortable designing a website as installing a kitchen. Rich is committed to providing an outstanding level of communication with our customers. The addition of cloud-based project management software has taken this goal to the next level. Rich is a licensed CSL (Contractor Supervisor License) and HIC (Home Improvement Contractor). Rich and Lou Ann are married and have two children, one granddaughter, one dog, and two boats.
Renee Comeau
Lead Designer
Renee joined our team in early 2023 expanding our design/specification services. She has a fine arts degree in Interior Design from Syracuse University and over 10 years of experience providing kitchen design expertise. Renee lives at the gateway to Cape Cod (on the other side of the bridge) with her husband and cat. She loves the beach, boating, travel, and doing her own home improvement projects.
Michelle Costello
Showroom Coordinator
Originally from upstate New York, Michelle moved to Boston after graduating with a degree in Accounting from SUNY (State University of New York) at Oswego. She worked in the corporate world as a financial consultant and manager until moving to Falmouth in 1995 to raise her family. Michelle joined our team in 2017 bringing her organizational skills to managing our showroom and materials for projects. She enjoys gardening, kayaking, and spending time in Maine with her husband and two sons.
Dan Tavares
Carpenter/Master Tiler
Dan is a jack-of-all-trades in addition to being a master tile setter. He joined our team in 2012 with a solid background in all aspects of flooring. When it comes to a simple tile backsplash or an intricate glass-inlay shower surround, Dan is The Man. He also is an excellent carpenter. Dan is a native of Cape Cod and spends his off time with his wife, children, and horses.
Tracy Bouton
Business Manager
After spending a little over 20 years in Atlanta, Tracy returned to her roots in New England. She is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned her MBA at Mercer University while in Atlanta. Tracy joined our team in 2010 bringing over 25 years of experience working with small businesses as a consultant, office manager, and bookkeeper. This experience combined with her passion for remodeling her own homes makes her a great asset to our team. She enjoys spending time with her wife and children on the bike path, at the beach, and traveling.
Debbie Braney
Owner
Debbie joined iKitchens Etc. in February 2025, blending her expertise in marketing, digital and customer experience with her passion for home improvement. This step marks a shift from her long-time career in high tech to a new challenge as a small business owner. You'll find Debbie supporting all facets of the business, from demo to IT to customer communication. When she's not focused on remodeling your home, you'll find her working on her own or traveling to new destinations around the world.
